Hello fashionistas! It has been a long time coming since my last post. I have been extremely busy. I had an oppurtinity to style my first child model with a very talented photographer. I have also been working on new shoe designs, clutch designs and necklace designs for my fashionistas. I know, I know my website is still in the works, I am still working on it to get it launched for everyone so thank you for being patient. I also landed a part time job at a boutique to gain customer service and retail experience, I begin work on May 23rd (I am very excited). Hmm, I think that is a brief information on the what has been going on the past month.
So of course you know this past Sunday was Mother's Day. Keep in my mind my boyfriend lives in Alabama. As a routine on Sunday's, I clean my apartment, but this particular Sunday I decided to change up my living room a bit because it was really clutered with my projects. I decided to turn one of my closets in my bedroom into a small office and change my living room into a small wardrobe area (I will take pictures once finished). So as I am rearranging, I hear a loud knock on the door, I look out of the blinds and I didn't see any vehicles, so I opened the door...to my surprise it was my boyfriend. This was the best surprise Mother's Day ever, I cried like a big baby because I was not expecting to see him. This topped any Mother's Day these past five years.
For my Mother's Day look, I decided to wear a dashiki, my custom Tribe necklaces, my "Fake" fur clutch and my "Fab Fur" heels. I loved everything about this look. Not only was it is colorful and fun, but it was also comfortable. Each item complimented the dashiki and gave it a modern African feel. I loved the shape and look of the dashiki which made it that much fun to style. Since it was kind of short with slits on the side, I wore a pair of short denim shorts underneath in case a breeze came through. The dashiki is unisex and can be worn as a top or a dress. I decided to wear as a dress because I loved how it looked with the accessories I added. I will wear this dashiki again but as a top in a future blog post so stay tuned
Would you wear a dashiki? If so, how would you wear it?
